This book gives us Merle’s story. We got to meet Merle in a Prince of the Playhouse. I enjoyed meeting him in that book and am glad that he got his story told.  Merle longs for more than just being known as a teenage girl’s vampire fantasy come to life. He longs to be taken seriously in the world of Hollywood. When he finally gets his chance to grab for the stars he finds himself in a personal dilemma. Can Merle find love and keep his career or will he have to choose one or the other?

Merle is taken by surprise by his feelings for Tom yet he cannot deny them. He must make some hard choices and decide if he will follow his heart or let true love pass him by.  Merle is a good man and we see this throughout his story as he deals with his emotions and the conflicts that he has. Tom is a quiet and non-assuming man that many people take for a lack of intelligence. He understands that he cannot compete with the men vying for Merle’s attention and is more than happy with what the attention that he receives. Tom loves Merle enough to let him go but it still hurts.

Their story is a wonderful read that shows us just how strong love can be and what it can accomplish. Merle and Tom make a great couple and everyone else can see the love the two shares but the men themselves. Each one is determined to give the other a better life without them in it. This story is full of emotions and both men must look inside themselves and make some hard choices.  Not only do we get to see the two men work through their attraction and watch it turn into something more but we also see them fight for the people that they care for. I also enjoyed seeing what is behind the façade that Merle shows the world and what his personal life is like.  New and old characters shine in this book and I must say I truly loved Rene and hope that we get to see more of him in future books.

Tom and Merle’s story is well paced and full of depth and emotions. I found myself engaged in their story from the very first page all the way to the last. With great characters and a good storyline this is a nice addition to this series.

This is an objective review and not an endorsement of this book.
